Light threshing machine
Built in 1944 , I believe many of these sort of light machines were made to try to speed up , and mechanise farming during the second world war. It is designed to be driven from the power take off pulley of a tractor, but any external power source could be used. I intend to try driving it from the rear power take off , of a Series One Landrover .
A local farmer told me , these small threshing machines were popular among the small Welsh hill farms
When removing the paint from some of the metalwork I was surprised to find the tops of the lettering etc. highlighted with gold paint. As this machine was built during the second world war , I didn't expect such extravagance then.
I have been restoring it bit by bit over the last couple of years.
It is my intention to take it to a couple of shows myself, before selling it. At about three tons it is too big and heavy for me to take anywhere easily.
